As a Japanese manga author, he is most known for his supernatural manga like GeGeGe no Kitaro. He is also known as a researcher of Yokai and is a master of this genre in Japan. He created the drawing of Yokai that lived in Japan and worldwide as well. Since, he has been drawing Yokai for sixty years and has created 1,700 works. Many of his works, which are based on local legends, folklores, mythologies, experiences during his childhood and memories of the World War II, have received high acclaim from all over the world.
